How do you choose the best home-school program?

I am thinking about home-schooling my children, ages 7 and 11, and I know there are different curriculum’s for homeschool. I don’t know where to go to find out about homeschooling resources or how to compare the different programs. In addition, what resources are available to home-school parents? How can you suplement the social aspects, art, PE, and other programs offered in school. I would like to find the program that is right for my children and encorporate all of the additional activities to create a well rounded education for them.

Testing in homeschooling?

How important is testing for advancement in homeschooling programs? I did not have my sons take a comprehensive test at end of school year. They advanced to grades 5, 1 and K this month after completing last years curriculum.
Any suggestions for low cost academic level testing?

How does homeschooling exactly work?

To know what books to get and what you should learn is what colleges are looking for, correct? Like in my high school, we have to have three years of foriegn language, and different standards for the year we graduate. So whatever books we choose to get are what is needed for college?

I am a homeschool student (senior) and I just need to complete 3 more courses to graduate. I have been homeschooling all online on flvs.net. The thing is, French 2 is on of the classes I need and they don’t offer it on this website. What I’d like to know is…is it possible for my mother to become my french teacher by signing up for some homeschooling program? She took french for 4 years so I know she could teach me. I just want to know how it all works. On online school I have teachers that issue my grades. How would my mother give me a grade when she really isn’t “authorized” for that. How does this whole “homeschooling by the books with parents” work?

Difference between GED and homeschooling diploma?

I know people look down on people who have a GED, and generally it is not looked on equally as a diploma. I only have a couple months of school left, so I was wondering if I should try homeschooling? Where can I find JUST computer based homeschooling?

So I’m interested in the American School of Correspondence. Can I take their courses and really just go to any college as I would with public school? Thanks for the info so far.
So now its on to Penn Foster. It looks interesting to me. How old do I have to be? It doesnt really look legit. I really care about my education and I really want this(homeschooling) to work out.
